Wow… Three Reasons to Celebrate!

June 3, 2019

The spring semester has come to a close and we have much to celebrate! This school year has been an exciting time of growth for the Campolo Center. Here are three important accomplishments I’d like to share with you today:

MONDAY MEETINGS | Each week throughout the semester, the Campolo Scholars and I gather for a Monday Meeting – a core component in the ongoing discipleship of these young leaders. This weekly space has flourished into an integral time of mentoring. In addition to faculty, we actively reach out to area pastors to come in and lead these meetings. We’re building relationships with churches, speaking into the lives of students, and creating opportunities for them to find internships and apprenticeships. (Below: Rev. Amy Banka leads a Monday Meeting.)

CAMPOLO FELLOWS LECTURE SERIES | Made possible by the Baugh Foundation, which has renewed their grant for the coming year, we welcomed six diverse and dynamic speakers to engage with, inspire, and challenge both our scholars and the community. The lecture series allows the Campolo Scholars to receive mentoring and career counseling from experienced thought-leaders and provides opportunities for them to develop connections for further education, internships, and residency programs. Visiting speakers also meet individually with our scholars. (Below: Campolo Scholar Ally Bartlett, Tony Campolo, Baugh Foundation VP Jackie Baugh Moore, and Rev. Dr. Amy Butler.)

GRADUATIONS | We are thrilled to celebrate the graduations of five Campolo Scholars this year: an M.Div, a Dance Major (Summa Cum Laude), two Youth Ministry/Bible and Theology majors, and Entrepreneurial Studies for vocational ministries. These young scholars have worked and studied hard and now they are off on new adventures. This commencement also marks the completion of the first Campolo Scholar cohort, inaugurated in the fall of 2015. We eagerly await a brand new cohort of students this fall. Wow! It’s clear that we have much to celebrate at the closing of this school year. And we are grateful for YOUR part in it all.

We can’t do it without you. Thank you and God bless you!

Gratefully,

Robert Gauthier
Executive Director
