The Christmas child grew up to preach the good news that the Kingdom of God was at hand. He spoke in simple words so that ordinary people could understand his message – and He did so without futile arguments or sophistry. Many men and women were captured by what He said, and became His followers.
Out of the many, He chose a special handful to be His disciples.
He poured Himself into their lives with teachings and prayers. When He left them, He did so with confidence that they would go into all the world to deliver His story of hope and salvation.
Today we are trying to imitate Him by carefully selecting a specially gifted group of young men and women and challenging them to carry out that same mission that Christ gave to His disciples two thousand years ago.
We are praying with them and for them. We are trying to teach them what they have to know if they are going to build up the Church that Christ came to create.
This Christmas season we are asking you for a special gift to undergird this handful of carefully chosen students who are studying here at Eastern University to be preachers and teachers, committed to delivering Christ’s salvation story to a needy world.
In Romans 10: 14 – 16 we read:
How shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard?
And how shall they hear without a preacher?
And how shall they preach, except they be sent?
Will you help send these future leaders of the Church with a special Christmas gift? We want them to go unencumbered with debts as they carry out Christ’s great commission (Matthew 28: 19).
Hopefully yours,
Tony Campolo
