Our fall semester is well underway and the Campolo Center is working full steam ahead!
We had a great turnout for this week’s Monday Meeting. In addition to our Scholars, we were joined by three special guests from Palmer Seminary as well as Campolo alums Ally Bartlett and James Williams. Our guest speaker was the reputed preacher, author, professor, and senior pastor of Cathedral International – Donald Hilliard.
Our Zoom meeting touched on a variety of topics. Bishop Hilliard spoke about key differences between Moses and Joshua: Moses, he explained, was a solitary leader. Joshua, on the other hand, formed a committee of leaders over the twelve tribes, each of whom had to cross the body of water. Using this Biblical account as an example, he illuminated the necessary progression of Biblical pastoral leadership, which ultimately results in the need for community leadership.
We are tremendously grateful for Bishop Hilliard’s willingness to invest in the spiritual and leadership growth of our Scholars.
Furthermore, today launches the LONGEVITY Conference, a virtual gathering hosted by Donald Hilliard Ministries. Bryan Stevenson (who was Hilliard’s roommate while at Eastern) will be a keynote speaker. The theme will be: “Soaring and Surviving through the Three-Fold Pandemic: Covid-19, Economic Collapse, and Social Justice.”
Our own Campolo Scholar, Jabre Harris, will be attending each of the sessions. We look forward to hearing him share what he’s learned during an upcoming meeting! Thank you for your faithful prayers for all of our Campolo Scholars.
